Project Ideas

Model building: Iteratively improve 3D model printing

Architecture: Try to build a realistic model of a house, or room, or town

Fashion: Build a 3D object from 2D paper (paper motorcycle, origami, object nets) or fabric (Olson mask)

Stringed instruments: Film a string being played using 960 fps slow motion (i.e. violin, guitar) and analyze the frequency

Video games: Find an open source physics engine and tweak the physics model (i.e. Learn how to use Planck.js and modify the source code for Astray 2)

Sport: Film different techniques and compare their effectiveness

Coins (metal combinations and prices)

Cars & planes - STEM has a wind tunnel to test drag and lift forces

Ophthalmologist/optometrist: curved lenses and ray diagrams

Cooking: look up "kitchen science" online for ideas

Plants: Templeton has a greenhouse

Drawing: Learn proper perspective

Painting: Make natural pigments from local materials, or attempt to replicate Tim’s Vermeer
